The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra announces this year's exciting concert schedule!

 

                 July Summer Pops Concert "American Fun!"                      

Our Summer Pops Concert "American Fun!" features the Fargo-based band Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome. This 12-piece, horn-based classic rock band will blend their pop/jazz energy with sounds of the Orchestra. Great fun for the whole family!

Special Pops Pricing: K-12 students free; $10 for all adults—OR—buy your BSO Season Tickets at Pops and get "American Fun!" for free.

Concert #1: “American Jazz”

Pianist Jacob Adams returns to Bemidji for Gershwin’s “Concerto in F.” Also, William Grant Still’s “Afro-America Symphony” and Libby Larsen’s “Overture for the End of a Century.”

Concert #2: “American Lessons”

Flutist Carol Wincenc of the Juilliard School performs Christopher Rouse’s “Flute Concerto.” Also, Mozart‘s Symphony No.31 “Paris,” and Elgar’s beautiful “Serenade for Strings.”

Concert #3: “The Messiah Holiday Concert”

Make it your holiday tradition to join the Orchestra, your family and friends, and members of area choral groups for a community Messiah sing-a-long!

Concert #4: "History Meets Music"

Historical re-enactor Clay Jenkinson invites us into the mind and heart of American physicist Robert Oppenheimer. Featuring chamber music connected to Oppenheimer’s life and times.

Concert #5: “American Kids”

Nick Hardy and Andrew Martin are featured in Brahms “Double Concerto” for cello and violin. Local strings students join the BSO in Bach’s “Double Concerto” and Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis.”

      Concert #6: "American History"

Chris Brubeck's new work "In Cowboyland” and Clay Jenkinson's portrayal of Theodore Roosevelt combine to give us a dynamic look at our 26th president. Also featured are composers/musical works heard in Roosevelt’s White House.
